Companies That Started After Crisis
Beliefs about a crisis define the outcome. Our mindset, which determines our attitude, will lead us into success or defeat. The truth is that difficulties in life and business are often the foundation for better character and therefore, better business. Instead of becoming victims of our circumstances, we can become victors by transforming obstacles into pathways.
In fact, many successful businesses were founded during difficult times much like we are now experiencing with Covid-19.
Fortune magazine was founded ninety days after the market crashed in 1929
General Electric was started doing the 1893 panic and economic depression
General Motors was founded during the panic of 1908 when businesses had a 30% drop
Walt Disney Productions began at the very start of the great depression
HP was founded during one of the worst recessions of the 20th century during 1937-1938
Trader Joe’s was founded during the recession of 1958
Microsoft emerged during the 1973 oil crises and resulting recession
Coors came about during the depression of 1873
United Airlines was launched at the start of the great depression in 1929
The important truth on which we should focus during difficult times is that this is a marathon, not a sprint. The times present us with the possibility of finding new routes, consider avenues not yet traveled, a chance to redouble our focus.
Instead of pondering what “could” happen set your mind on facts, not fiction. Finally, don’t look at the struggle of these times as an obstacle, but as a new opportunity.
What is the opportunity you are considering?
